The Corey Perry saga - at least for the time being - has come to a resolute conclusion after the Chicago Blackhawks terminated his contract for "unacceptable" conduct. Of course, everyone is well aware of the rumour that has been circulating regarding Perry and the family member of a teammate, but Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson would like to put an end those "disgusting" rumours.

As you can imagine, the Blackhawks didn't divulge too much detail regarding the situation as they spoke very briefly about Perry's conduct, if anything at all. After he was inexplicably scratched without reason last week, the Blackhawks then said it was a team matter a few days later, to which his agent responded that it was actually a personal issue. The pot was stirring but no one had any idea what was actually going on.

As the days rolled by, the rumours got a little more convoluted and Davidson felt that he had to address them at the end of his presser yesterday:

"Corey Perry has engaged in conduct that is unacceptable, and in violation of both the terms of his Standard Player's Contract and the Blackhawks' internal policies intended to promote professional and safe work environments.

I do want to be very clear on this one point: This does not involve any players or their families, and anything that suggests otherwise, or anyone that suggests otherwise, is wildly inaccurate, and frankly, it's disgusting. This has been a tough situation."

Davidson was visibly distraught during the press conference and rightfully so as the Blackhawks continue to be under the lime light but for the wrong reasons.

Perry was brought in as a veteran leader to help steer the ship with the Blackhawks embarking on a full blown rebuild. On the season, Perry chipped in with 4 goals and 9 points through 16 games with Chicago currently holding the 2nd worst record in the league at 7-13-0.
