Sheldon Keefe informs the media where things are at with John Klingberg; it doesn't sound promising

After beginning the season by racking up 5 assists early on, John Klingberg's play rapidly began to cool and now rumours of a significant, possibly career-threatening injury have started to swirl. After missing the Leafs' matchup against Calgary, he was able to get into the lineup against Vancouver - but then missed the entire trip in Sweden.

Now back in Toronto at practice, Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe provided an update on Klingberg's status. It's not sounding too good for the veteran defenseman.

It's believed that Klingberg is dealing with a significant hip injury, which was disturbed by the long flight to Sweden, and was perhaps impacting his play when he was in the lineup even before the trip. Keefe's update is really a lack of an update, as Klingberg is expected to be out with the injury indefinitely.

Coming off several subpar seasons since leaving the Dallas Stars and a one-year ‘prove-it' deal with the Anaheim Ducks, who traded him to Minnesota, the Leafs offered Klingberg a similar deal this summer. If Klingberg's injury is as significant as it sounds, he could be out of the lineup the rest of the year, and his career could be over at just 31 years old.
