A former NHLer who spent time with the Toronto Marlies and trained with the Toronto Maple Leafs on a PTO has taken a step back from pro hockey this season to embark on a potential new career path.

28-year-old Josh Ho-Sang has been keeping himself busy away from the ice this year. He has multiple projects still in the works, but perhaps the most interesting one is his 18-track rap album called 'Same'. He dropped the album on Tuesday afternoon, and you know what? It's a lot better than I though it would be. The album has songs that breach the topics of regret, self-love, courage, and growing up. There's even a track called "Papi for MVP" in reference to Leafs franchise cornerstone Auston Matthews.

A former 1st round pick of the New York Islanders in 2014, Ho-Sang had never really established himself at the NHL level and also struggled to adapt the the pro game in Europe as well. Perhaps his rap career will pan out for him a little better than his pro hockey career.

After playing in Sweden for a short time during the 2020-21 season, he was able to earn an opportunity to sign a professional try-out contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. His hard work and determination led to Ho-Sang earning a contract with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League for the remainder of the 2021 season where he recorded 35 points in 47 games.

His early season success in 2021 with the Marlies led to the chance to play at the Olympic Games in Beijing, representing Team Canada, alongside other reputable names like Eric Staal, Daniel Winnik, and Jason Demers, while going up against young up and comers such as Matty Beniers, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Maple Leafs forwards Matthew Knies, Pontus Holmberg, and Nick Abruzzese.

It's tough to say if Joshua Ho-Sang will ever play pro hockey again, but if he doesn't, he will definitely keep busy with music, his newfound passion.
