NHL stiffs Connor McDavid, fails to pay him a large sum of money it owes him

Edmonton Oilers' superstar Connor McDavid was responsible for influencing the overhaul of the NHL All-Star Skills Competition this season. Rather than having every All-Star participate in at least one event, the NHL decided to choose 12 players - essentially the most skilled, elite competitors - to take part in the events, eliminating players as the competition wore on.

Alongside McDavid were players like David Pastrnak, Nathan MacKinnon, Leon Draisaitl, and Auston Matthews, just to name a few. There were 6 total events and each player took part in 4 events while accruing points. The top-8 then moved onto the 7th round and then 2 more were eliminated before the 8th and final round.

The winner was to be awarded a $1 million dollar prize, and unsurprisingly, it was McDavid who came out on top. He made quick and easy work of the fastest skater, stick handling, and the accuracy shooting events en route to an impressive win.

Before the event even took place, we had heard of what some of the contestants would do had they won the money. Cale Makar, for example, was going give to split the winnings with all of the defensemen on Colorado. As for McDavid, he vowed to take care of the Oilers' team trainers the winnings, but as it so happens, he still hasn't even received the earnings from the NHL.


The skills competition took place nearly 3 weeks ago and it's a little surprising that the NHL has stiffed the winner. It remains to be seen when they will be paying their most prolific star but McDavid does plan on taking care of the trainers in Edmonton whenever he does receive the grand prize.
