Insider provides important injury update on Leafs winger Bobby McMann
TSN's Darren Dreger has officially revealed the nature of Maple Leafs winger Bobby McMann's lower-body injury. Dreger also revealed McMann's status for the series.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been without Bobby McMann since April 13th. McMann got tangled up along the boards with Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat.The injury forced McMann to miss the final two games of the regular season and at the time it was deemed a 'lower-body injury'. TSN's Darren Dreger was on 'First Up' this morning and was finally able to provide some clarity as to the specifics of his ailment.
"He's being re-evaluated on a daily basis. We believe it's knee related. We don't know the specifics, but I have heard MCL. I don't know how significant the injury is. Significant enough that he's been out for a while and the only thing that you'll get from the Maple Leafs is that he has not been ruled out for the series. However, no different than the sense that Nylander could be available tomorrow is based on how he skated on Wednesday.
Bobby McMann hasn't skated. He's going to need at least a couple decent skates before he is able to play in a playoff game. I just can't imagine he is available for Game 4 tomorrow. So best case scenario would be Game 5 or Game 6, but he would be a significant add."

The fact that it is a knee injury does not bode well for the Leafs or McMann as he missed the end of last season with a knee injury that lingered into training camp this season.
As Dreger noted, if McMann is healthy enough to play, he will need a couple of practices at the very least to get back up to speed before jumping into the series. For the Leafs, adding McMann's size and speed to the top-six would give them a much-needed boost in the offense department, as he scored 13 of his 15 goals in the final two months of the season.
