Must See! Kraken winger drills referee with huge hit from behind

There are times throughout the year where NHL officials end up being caught with an inadvertent hit or a bump during play that sends him crashing to the ice, but seldom to we ever see a referee hit as hard as Furman South was hit during last night's Kraken/Kings game.

The play in question occurred during the 2nd period of last night's game, as Seattle Kraken winger Eeli Tolvanen was lining up a Kings defender for a hit. South had attempted to get out of the way of the play, but put himself in the line of fire.

Tolvanen appeared to attempt to stop up a bit before delivering the hit, but he was moving too quickly to avoid contact with the official. During the stoppage in play that followed, Tolvanen made sure to skate over to South to check on him and make sure he was okay, which he seemed to be.

With the hit being accidental, it's highly unlikely that anything else comes from this. In the end, we're just glad to see that South is alright, as referees don't exactly brace themselves for hits, so this one could have gone very, very wrong.
