Stanley Cup winner changes agents ahead of deadline, now represented by someone who reps 5 Leafs

For weeks now, it has been pretty common knowledge that the Ottawa Senators have been looking to shake things up and move some money out. One of the most common names we've heard in recent weeks has been Vladimir Tarasenko, who carries a $5M cap hit for the duration of this season before becoming a UFA this summer. Now, it appears as though Tarasenko is ramping up efforts to get himself out of Ottawa.

Per TSN's Pierre LeBrun, Tarasenko has officially switched agents, signing on with Newport Sports' Craig Oster. This marks the second time over the course of the last seven months that Tarasenko has sought out new representation.


Something interesting to note with Oster is that he happens to represent five members of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Oster currently represents the injured John Klingberg, Calle Jarnkrok, rookie netminder Dennis Hildeby, bottom-six winger Noah Gregor and depth defenseman Maxime Lajoie. Oster's five clients in Toronto represent the 3rd largest group of players on one team on his client list.


While the fact that Oster has 5 clients signed with the Maple Leafs may not point to Tarasenko landing in Toronto, it's certainly a sign that he has a good relationship with the Leafs. Is Tarasenko a fit for the Leafs? Maybe, but it's far more likely that the Leafs use up whatever assets they have left to move in a deal to bolster the blueline before they'd consider making a move to help shore up their forward group.

Tarasenko struggled to find his footing early on in Ottawa, but has amassed 13 goals and 33 points in 45 games for the Sens so far this season. Last season, Tarasenko managed 50 points in 69 games, split between the St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers.

Oster also has 5 clients signed in Ottawa (excluding Tarasenko) and a whopping 7 clients signed in Vegas.
